I am a young Mexican farmer that purchased my first piece of land last year. I went through a local financial institution and was advised to get a conventional land loan on the property. I hope that the USDA chooses to be more inclusive with this program and reach out to all BIPOC farmers regardless of loan type and help to create a stronger relationship between BIPOC farmers and the USDA. It can be a confusing process to get funding as a farmer and if you are not part of the right programs or know the right people, you can feel like you are being excluded from programs like this. But I am hopeful that the USDA will step up and advocate for all of us!
