The EQIP Interim Final Rule is lacking on sustainability. Small and medium-sized farms should have resources for conservation! The IFR must be changed to meet the law and comply with the progressive planning policy of the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

EQIP should foster conversion to making compost. This would capture nutrients for the soil and sequester atmospheric carbon. Composting technology and equipment are readily available. Just remember that a CAFO does not have to stink !
