This would encourage healthy eating habits, a taste for a variety of foods, and an opportunity to sit down for a meal rather than snacking on the run or not eating at all throughout the day.

Our society is concerned about obese children, to the point of recommending surgery. Really, is this easier than addressing the social, economic, and packaged food industry problems in our country.

Too many of our children go hungry; this is unacceptable in a country that has so many resources and a reasonable GNP. Good nutrition promotes good health mentally and physically. Healthy people are able to contribute to society. Children that society demonstrates care and respect for are more likely to want to contribute than those who are neglected.

I support the local & regional food systems that contribute to our sense of a caring community.

In NM there has been excellent with assisting local growers and food providers to contract with and provide their products to our schools. It is well worth the effort!
