Comment on Release: NSAC Praises Introduction of the Supporting Urban & Innovative Farming Act of 2023  by Fred Ehlert https://sustainableagriculture.net/blog/release-nsac-praises-introduction-of-the-supporting-urban-innovative-farming-act-of-2023/#comment-1062852 Sun, 30 Jul 2023 13:42:05 +0000 https://sustainableagriculture.net/?p=57637#comment-1062852 Dear NASC,
I’m a retired 20 + year organic inspector and applaud your realistic support of Supporting Urban & Innovative Farming Act (S.2591). This act addresses many aspects of the urban challenges we face today with a sensible and integrated approach to education, youth training, sustainable practices, habitat creation, and quality food access.

Thank you for pointing us all in the right direction.

Comment on Comment: NSAC Welcomes Further Investment in Regional Meat Processing By USDA by Isabel Coutts https://sustainableagriculture.net/blog/comment-nsac-welcomes-further-investment-in-regional-meat-processing-by-usda/#comment-1062671 Fri, 30 Jun 2023 16:39:24 +0000 https://sustainableagriculture.net/?p=57540#comment-1062671 Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, recently cut state funding for a local meat processing facility (Alachua County) much to the chagrin of local small producers and supporters at the Board of County Commissioners. Shameful and harmful to local and regional supply chains. Over the top development is already making it difficult for ranchers and other small producers to survive.

Comment on Bipartisan Agrivoltaics Bill Introduced in Senate by Mark Owens https://sustainableagriculture.net/blog/bipartisan-agrivoltaics-bill-introduced-in-senate/#comment-1062604 Tue, 13 Jun 2023 14:06:25 +0000 https://sustainableagriculture.net/?p=57415#comment-1062604 Great to see interest at the federal level. As a sheep farmer in central NY. I see tremendous opportunity in the grazing of local solar sites with my sheep. One suggestion, through my experiences with solar developers and local municipalities there needs to be a encouragement to adopt the dual use practices. There seems to be a slight reluctance rather it be from lack of knowledge or the thought of complicating management. So my thought is we need to encourage from the federal and state levels.

Thank for your ear Mark
