{"id":27,"date":"2008-08-13T14:17:22","date_gmt":"2008-08-13T18:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sacdev.org\/?page_id=27"},"modified":"2023-04-11T10:48:10","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T14:48:10","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sustainableagriculture.net\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC)<\/strong> is an alliance of grassroots organizations that advocates for federal policy reform to advance the sustainability of agriculture, food systems, natural resources, and rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSAC\u2019s vision of agriculture is one where a safe, nutritious, ample, and affordable food supply is produced by a legion of family farmers who make a decent living pursuing their trade, while protecting the environment, and contributing to the strength and stability of their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainableagriculture.net\/about-us\/members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NSAC member groups<\/a> advance common positions to support small and mid-size family farms, protect natural resources, promote healthy rural communities, and ensure access to healthy, nutritious foods by everyone.&nbsp; By bringing grassroots perspectives to the table normally dominated by big business, NSAC levels the playing field and gives voice to sustainable and organic farmers.&nbsp; To do this work, NSAC:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>gathers input from sustainable and organic farmers and ranchers, and from a diverse group of grassroots farm, food, rural, and conservation organizations that work directly with farmers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develops policy through participatory issue committees that involve NSAC member organizations and allies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provides direct representation in Washington, D.C. on behalf of its membership to members of Congress and federal administrative offices, such as USDA and EPA; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>builds the power of the sustainable agriculture movement by strengthening the capacity of its member groups to promote citizen engagement in the policy process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learn More<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the toolbar at left to learn more about NSAC, our <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainableagriculture.net\/about-us\/history\/accomplishments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accomplishments<\/a>, and be sure to sign up for <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainableagriculture.net\/take-action\/\">Action Alerts<\/a> to speak out for better food and farm policy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contact Us<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a policy question?
