It\u2019s likely you haven\u2019t, since the agency\u2019s leadership is attempting to roll out a massive plan that will reduce staffing and resources at USDA without any meaningful public input!\u00a0\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>USDA calls its plan a \u201creorganization,\u201d but it\u2019s really a forced reduction and the dismantling of a department with critical responsibilities for our country. The department has predicted that 50%* or more of headquarters staff would leave the agency under its plan to require them to relocate to 5 new \u201chubs\u201d, and is proposing to shutter numerous regional offices and research centers These staff losses and consolidations within the department will lead to even longer wait times for services, exacerbate existing bottlenecks for popular programs, and put our food and farm system\u2019s safety and security at risk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are just a few examples of the critical functions USDA provides, often behind the scenes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Food Safety: <\/strong>Research into new and existing pest and disease threats to our agricultural economy, like avian flu, E.
